2020 Season

Due to exceptional isolation measures (COVID-19) that led to the suspension of its regular season, including in-hall concerts and its academy with musicians in Montréal, the OF is launching an innovative, digital component. The 2020 season will go on! With the creation of a digital platform and interface, the OF is reinventing its season… online. A first for an academic orchestra!

The OF will offer musicians online training either one-on-one with the professor or live in a group. OF concerts will be streamed for the public: every noon hour in July, music lovers will be welcomed to solo mini‑concerts on the OF Facebook page and its YouTube channel. Masterclasses and special presentations will be streamed on the OF’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

Musicians will be producing two digital projects: one to promote their solo concert and the other about the digital transformation of their musical practice.

Also, each week, Jean-Philippe Tremblay will be hosting a podcast with guests. Over the summer, the OF will mentor young musicians from El Sistema New Brunswick.

During the season, the OF will explore new technologies for online concerts and live online music.

The goal of this digital component is also to expand our educational offerings during the year, before and after the seasons.
