Assistant Director, Orchestre Symphonique de Québec
Joël Brouillette is assistant director, artistic operations and development at the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec and director of personnel at the Orchestre Symphonique de Drummondville. He previously worked as a horn teacher in several high schools, including Régina Assumpta College, Ste-Anne College in Lachine and Pierre-Laporte High School, where he also taught musical literature.
While concentrating his professional activities into music administration, he is still an active member of the Orchestre Symphonique de Drummondville. He also plays horn with the Orkestre des Pas Perdus, an eclectic group with which he has toured several times.
Joël Brouillette is a graduate of the Conservatoire de Musique du Québec in Montreal, the Faculty of Music at the University of Montreal, and the State University of New York.
Jean-Jacques van Vlasselaer
Jean-Jacques Van Vlasselaer has a double career as an academic (Carleton University 1970-2011 and the University of Waterloo since 2011) and as a music critic and writer (Le Matin 1962-1968 ; Le Droit 1972- 2015). He has recorded as yet more than 80 podcasts for the NAC. He has written more than 3500 articles on music at concerts and about 80 academic articles.
Musician, emergency ward doctor
A versatile, passionate musician, Mathieu Gaudet has pursued a remarkable career as a soloist, chamber musician, and conductor for the past twenty years. He commands a vast repertoire of works and has performed across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. He currently records Schubert’s complete piano music for the Analekta label.
Mr. Gaudet also works as an emergency physician.

A leader in the non-profit sector for 30 years, Ken is CEO of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra (Canada) and founder of Sistema New Brunswick, a program offering hope to vulnerable children, through music. Sistema NB is the largest of its kind in Canada, recently honoured with the Prime Minister’s Award for Social Innovation.
An accomplished concerto soloist, Marina has performed with the North Czech Philharmonic, Mariánské Lázně Symphony Orchestra, the Santiago Chamber Orchestra, the Verbier festival, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Sinfonia Toronto, to mention a few.
